But there are still a lot of farm fields within Gilbert city limits just waiting for the offer the owner can't refuse. It will take a while now, but that offer will come.
Gilbert has managed the phenomenal growth very well. The streets, utility facilities and easements, and other infrastructure components are ahead of the path of construction, and well designed.
Another important factor to the growth management success by Gilbert was the village concept that was applied. The village communities within Gilbert provide for every type of residence, regional shopping and entertainment facilities, as well as employment centers.
When they want to venture outside their village, Gilbert residents have choices from the Mesa Arts Center within 10 minutes, to "Party Town" along Mill Avenue in Tempe, to the major league sports and entertainment facilities within a half-hour in downtown Phoenix. With an average age of only 29 years, Gilbert residents are going to be looking to play with some frequency.
Gilbert has retained its frontier heritage through annual celebrations as well as the retention of horse-riding trails alongside of walking and biking trails.
