Metro Phoenix is the perfect place for a pool in the backyard of a home. This is true. But that pool is really useable only from about mid-May to late September. Yes, a pool can be heated, but a body of water that large takes so long to heat that you are likely going to be on to other interests before the water is warm enough. And you are NOT going to like that heating cost if you do it with any frequency.
Even in the metro-Phoenix area, from early October until late April, a "hot tub" type of facility is a lot more practical and a lot more fun.
