Scottsdale AZ Real Estate Agents - The Neal Team.
Founded in 1888 by US Army Chaplain Winfield Scott to support a collection of cattle ranches, Scottsdale has become, perhaps, the most "cosmopolitan" community in Arizona. It now covers 185 square miles and is home to more than 250,000 citizens.
Scottsdale has been described as a city "with a vision and an attitude". For several decades the zoning ordinances and building restrictions have been designed and enforced to produce a unique place to live and visit.
Only recently have Scottsdale buildings been allowed to be more than four stories above ground. And most of the Scottsdale downtown core, which is know world-wide as a shopping mecca, is just one story.
All cattle ranches are long gone. Instead, Scottsdale has many destination resorts that are famous World-wide, and Scottsdale is World-famous as a center for Western U.S. art and culture.
For a city in the middle of the Sonoran Desert, Scottsdale is remarkably green. In the interior of either McCormick Ranch or Gainey Ranch, a couple of large and mature Scottsdale communities, the tall trees and landscape would give no hint of where in the world you were. Plus there is a multitude of lush golf courses in Scottsdale, as well as Indian Bend Wash - a miles-long ribbon extending down the much of the Southern middle of vertically drawn Scottsdale.
Surprisingly, far North Scottsdale, although only twenty-five miles from Downtown, is over 1500 feet higher in elevation, gets 50% more rain, and has average peak summer temperatures barely over 100. In the low humidity that is typical here, it is very pleasant.
With a median age of 42 and a median home price well above $500,000, the citizens of Scottsdale are clearly "mature and affluent".
